Business Development Representative

Job Description:

We are seeking motivated individuals who have prior sales experience and a desire to succeed. The Business Development Representative will work cooperatively with Inside Sales and other members of the Business Development team to pursue new customer prospects and to meet or exceed monthly quotas for establishing new Technology Acquisition Alliance Agreements. Qualified candidates should be high achievers, goal oriented and self motivated.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prospect, negotiate and close corporate engagements that offer technology acquisition opportunities from leading academic labs and research institutions. Transactions include commercial agreements for the in-licensing of new technology that can provide a competitive advantage to our clients
  • Drive negotiations and close transactions while building long-term relationships
  • Work effectively with UTEK Fulfillment to ensure a smooth transition from Business Development to Fulfillment
  • Support and promote all of UTEK capabilities, as appropriate
  • Place out-bound calls from a database of leads provided and identify new potential leads
  • Research new prospects (Market Cap, Revenues, Contacts, etc.)
  • Follow-up on new lead campaigns and efforts

Required Skills:

  • Significant sales experience in closing six figure contracts
  • Comfortable negotiating complex terms with senior and C-level executives
  • Customer relationship management
  • Strong organizational capabilities and keen attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently
  • A commitment to excellent customer service
  • Excellent written and oral communications

Preferred Education:

  • Business Degree
  • Sales, telemarketing and negotiations training, presentation techniques
  • Knowledge of corporate finance and business functions
